The Bingo Race for Real Money
In truth, as far as the classification of games goes, Bingo should probably be considered a sort of race. This is because as the game progresses, someone is going to win. It is really only a matter of time. Thus, although the winner is randomly determined, the Bingo race has room for second and third place runner ups which are determined as the event continues. In this sense all Bingo players are competitors and whoever wins the real money does so at the expense of his fellow players.
Real Money Bingo is Not Just for Fun
Although the original game of Bingo, as it was introduced Edwin Lowe, did not necessarily involve winning any real money award, the obvious lottery like nature of the Bingo game has now become synonymous with winning cash. In the U.S. Bingo is usually licensed for use as a charity fundraiser or as a fundraiser for religious institutions. Various laws and regulations prevent the developing of Bingo as a pure gambling business. Two notable exceptions to this rule are the State of Nevada which allows casino based Bingo games and Native American resorts where Bingo halls are often located adjacently to casino halls. As fundraisers, Bingo games are often held with relatively small real money jackpots and perhaps a closing session with a higher jackpot (this is often called a coverall game). Fundraising Bingo events are usually held by churches approximately once a week on the church premises. Sometimes a professional Bingo hall is rented out to various institutions. Such a hall might actually host games every night or every other night. In that case, the particular charity would change from night to night.
Big Real Money Bingo Prizes
Some Bingo halls offer particularly large real money prizes for Bingo winnings. The larger prizes are achieved by allowing a larger crowd to participate. As the game is a race and only one player wins, the larger the crowds, the lower the chances of scoring a Bingo win. Another method for allowing for a greater win is by offering a larger prize should the lucky winner complete his Bingo before a certain number of numbers have turned up. Yet another method is to allow a progressive jackpot where the real money jackpot accumulates as more games are played. Other real money Bingo games of note are scratch card Bingo games where the numbers and combinations are already printed and waiting to be revealed and online Bingo games where jackpots can sometimes climb quite high (again, due to various factors mentioned).
